Elantris was the city of the gods. What power could have cursed it?
There is a lot going for this book; interesting characters, good worldbuilding, politics, religion, and a central mystery. Even the main villain is engaging, because we see things from his point of view, we see his intelligence, his loyalties and his doubts. The hero is heroic, charismatic and with more than just physical courage. The heroine is intelligent and determined.
And yet I kept on finding myself skipping ahead, a sure sign that a book isn't holding my attention. But I'm not sure why.
However, if one finds that the only thing that is keeping one's interest is finding out the mystery of the plot, rather than the characters, it's time to stop reading.
