Thoughts

This is the first book in the Sharing Knife series. I'm re-reading it in preparation for reading Book 4 (in a series that was initially plugged as being two books long. Oh well). I think I like this one the best, because it introduces the characters, brings them together, makes them fall in love and overcome obstacles to be together. Or possibly because it feels a bit more of a happy ending at the end of this book, because we don't know the troubles which will happen in Book 2.

I really like this; I love the two main characters, and I love the world-building. It isn't your cardboard-cutout descendent of Tolkien that so many fantasy writers churn out. I like how we don't know everything, how we learn more, how the characters learn more about the world they are in.
