Summary: Re-telling of "Fitcher's Bird". Investigating the disappearances of several young wizards, Hermione finds the trail leading to a dead woman: Bellatrix Lestrange. What lies in the lost Black estate? What dark secrets does the last room hold?

Be prepared, if you read this, for role reversal, gruesome sights, compelling characterisation, angst and horror and hope and despair, unexpected sympathy, poignant madness. Hermione, even in the midst of the horror and seeming helplessness, manages to keep her wits about her. Severus is ruthlessly practical. And the end is both happy and sad. If you can't cope with written horror, avoid this - I did say "gruesome" - but otherwise, this is definitely worth reading.
